BOOTH # 4-107

Nuremberg, Germany – April 8, 2024. DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that it will exhibit at the Embedded World Exhibition & Conference, which runs from April 9-11 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in Nuremberg, Germany. DDC-I will showcase its Deos safety-critical avionics real-time operating system (RTOS), which utilizes the latest DO-178C Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) multi-core verified baseline.

DDC-I will also host a pair of safety-critical avionics display demos at its booth (#4-107). Both demos will feature Deos running on an NXP i.MX8qm processor with integrated Vivante GC7000 GPU and CoreAVI VkCoreGL® SC2 OpenGL® SC driver and libraries. One demo, focusing on avionics instruments, utilizes the Ensco IData cockpit display graphics tool suite to create and deploy human machine interface (HMI) displays. The second demo, focusing on instrument and drone capabilities, utilizes the Ansys SCADE display design and development environment to create and deploy the HMI.

“We’re excited to be part of the Embedded World Exhibition & Conference and look forward to demonstrating our world class RTOS platform to the safety-critical embedded community,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing at DDC-I. “Deos has flown for millions of hours aboard commercial air transport, business jet, military aircraft and helicopters. It delivers advanced features such as multi-core capabilities that address AC 20-193 objectives, real-time time and space partitioned operation, and reusable certification evidence. These capabilities and others make Deos the preeminent safety-critical environment for developing, certifying, and deploying advanced avionics systems.”

The Embedded World Exhibition & Conference provides a global platform and place to meet for the entire embedded community, including leading experts, key players, and industry associations. Embedded World is a must-attend event for developers, system architects, product managers and technical management, offering unprecedented insight into the world of embedded systems, from components and modules to operating systems, hardware, and software design, M2M communication, services, and various issues related to complex system design.

DDC-I’s Deos is a safety-critical time and space partitioned RTOS. First certified to DO-178 DAL A in 1998, Deos combines DO-178C DAL A artifacts with FACE® Technical Standard support that encompasses the Safety Base and Safety Extended Profiles for the Operating System Segment (OSS). The Safety Base Profile features hard real-time response, time, and space partitioning, and both ARINC-653 and POSIX interfaces.

SafeMC technology extends Deos’ advanced capabilities to multiple cores, enabling developers of safety-critical systems to achieve best in class multi-core performance without compromising safety-critical task response and guaranteed execution time. SafeMC employs a bound multiprocessing (BMP) extension of the symmetric multiprocessing architecture (SMP), safe scheduling, and cache partitioning to minimize cross-core contention and interference patterns that affect the performance, safety criticality and certifiability of multi-core systems These features enable avionics systems developers to address issues that could impact the safety, performance and integrity of a software airborne system executing on Multi-Core Processors (MCP), as specified by the FAA Advisory Circular AC 20-193.
