BOOTH #320

Montreal, Canada – May 7, 2024.  DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that it will exhibit at the Vertical Flight Society’s Annual Forum and Technology Display, which will be held at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal in Montréal, Québec, Canada from May 7-9. DDC-I will showcase its Deos™ safety-critical real-time operating system (RTOS), which utilizes the latest DO-178C Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) multi-core verified baseline. DDC-I will also host a pair of safety-critical demos and present technical papers on time-sensitive communications and security in avionics systems.

Both demos will feature Deos running on an NXP i.MX8qm processor with integrated Vivante GC7000 GPU and CoreAVI VkCoreGL® SC2 OpenGL® SC driver and libraries. One demo, focusing on avionics instruments, utilizes the Ensco IData cockpit display graphics tool suite to create and deploy human machine interface (HMI) displays. The second demo, focusing on instrument and drone capabilities, utilizes the Ansys SCADE display design and development environment to create and deploy the HMI.

DDC-I’s Gary Gilliland will present a pair of technical papers at the show, both in the Avionics & Systems 1 Technical Session C on Wednesday, May 8. The first paper, given at 1:45 PM EST, will address “Architectural Enablement for Time Sensitive Communications.” The second, at 4:30 PM, will cover “Security in Avionics Systems.”

“DDC-I has been a leading provider of mission- and safety-critical software to the avionics industry for over 35 years, our Deos RTOS having flown for millions of hours aboard commercial air transport, business jet, military aircraft and helicopters,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing at DDC-I. “We look forward to demonstrating our world class, safety-critical technology to the aviation community at the Vertical Flight Society’s Forum 80.”

About the Vertical Flight Society

The Vertical Flight Society’s 80th Annual Forum & Technology Display is the world’s leading international technical event on vertical flight technology. The conference will span three days and include 250+ technical papers on every discipline from acoustics to test & evaluation, as well as invited presentations and discussions by leaders in the military, government agencies and industry.

The Technology Display, running concurrent with the Forum, is the most extensive exposition of cutting-edge vertical flight technologies in the world. Leading manufacturers, service providers, defense agencies, universities, and research and development organizations will showcase the very latest in vertical flight technology in our exhibit hall.

About Deos

Deos is a safety-critical real-time operating system. First certified to DO-178 DAL A in 1998, Deos combines DO-178C DAL A artifacts with FACE® Technical Standard support that encompasses the Safety Base and Safety Extended Profiles for the Operating System Segment (OSS). The Safety Base Profile features hard real-time response, time, and space partitioning, and both ARINC-653 and POSIX interfaces.

SafeMC technology extends Deos’ advanced capabilities to multiple cores, enabling developers of safety-critical systems to achieve best in class multi-core performance without compromising safety-critical task response and guaranteed execution time. SafeMC employs a bound multiprocessing (BMP) extension of the symmetric multiprocessing architecture (SMP), safe scheduling, and cache partitioning to minimize cross-core contention and interference patterns that affect the performance, safety criticality and certifiability of multi-core systems. These features enable avionics systems developers to address issues that could impact the safety, performance and integrity of a software airborne system executing on Multi-Core Processors (MCP), as specified by the FAA Advisory Circular AC 20-193.
